My Parisian Garden series was inspired by a beautiful French woman I met on Hamilton Island in The Whitsundays, a couple of years ago. We crossed paths, uninterestingly, at the marina laundry facilities! She was wearing a stunning sundress in the colours that ended up on my paper in this series. I had to stop and ask her where her dress was from. She answered me with a sunny smile & an exquisite French accent. “From my home town, Paris” she kindly replied. We chatted about our island adventures for a moment, then she walked away as though she was floating in a vibrant garden of her own wearing. I ran to our boat and committed the colour pallet to my journal. All of my Parisian Garden pieces grew from this chance meeting. I remember her, her outfit & accent vividly to this day.
This is the 1st in the Parisian Garden Series.

On our annual boating holiday in Sept of 2021, in The Whitsundays, QLD we were moored on Hamilton Island. I happened to walk past a beautiful woman sitting in a golf buggy on Hamo. She was wearing a sundress in a glorious tiny floral pattern of vibrant colour. I complemented her on her outfit and she told me in a delicious French accent “my friend from home in Paris bought it for me”. We chatted for a while about the beautiful French city then I wandered off committing the colours of her dress to memory. Burnt yellows, soft purples with pops of green and pink. This piece, and the rest of my Parisian Garden Collection, has been inspired by the colours of her dress and her French accent which took me backed to my own travel in this beautiful European country.
